Samsung, the Korean electronic giant in the world, has vowed to continue expanding its presence in Africa with more ways that will make a positive impact to communities where the consumers live.

The Samsung Electronics Senior Manager East Africa, Simon Karithi, said on Thursday last week that his company was going to demonstrate this through the Samsung Week in Tanzania which starts from October 29 – November 3, this year.
“We understand that being successful in Africa requires an entrepreneurial attitude and a commitment to help create the market and infrastructure around it, not just enter it,” Karithi said.
Karithi said that that Samsung builds products and programmes for Africa’s unique needs, resources and conditions and that draw on the unique strengths and resourcefulness of its people to create new opportunities on the African continent.
He said that the week was aimed and dedicated to community development, entertainment and technology innovation where consumers have the opportunity to engage with the brand and their products and services at an experiential level.
In addition to the consumer experiential activities, Samsung plans to support the consumer community by offering free service and repairs of Samsung products like notebook PCs, cameras and mobile phones and raising awareness about dangers of counterfeit technologies.
“This is a very exciting initiative for Samsung as the company recently extended its standard factory warranty for customers on products within its visual display, IT solutions, digital appliances, digital imagining and digital air solutions product lines,” he said.
Karithi highlighted that the extension means that consumers can now enjoy a minimum 24 month warranty on all Samsung products, purchased from May 1, 2012, at no extra charge and that a Free Service Campaign allowed them to continue to demonstrate their commitment.
“Samsung is listening to the market, building partnerships and really committing to Africa and its people and this week along with the Free Service Campaign is just one example of how we achieve this,” he said.
Several activities have been planned for consumers to enjoy Samsung’s products available via special promotions and offers at all Samsung Shops, road shows with sales facility to bring the products closer to the people with entertainment, raffle draws with purchase of Samsung’s products and more.
